Tom Veitch shares his memory of Lemuel Tucker’s life and legacy
News
This is in honor and memory of Lemuel Tucker who defeated my roommate in a race for student body president at Central Michigan University in 1958 (WOW!).
Lem went on to become one of the first Black national TV reporters, and worked ABC, CBS and NBC. He received an Emmy for a documentary on “Hunger” and was in the limelight when he reported the Reagan assassination attempt—- “live”.
Unfortunately, Lem died young from cancer in the early 90’s, otherwise I believe he would have been more highly recognized as a prominent and successful Black leader.
