NARO Texas Chapter President Clinton Butler's on the '23 conference

More than 300 mineral and royalty owners from across the state of Texas attended last week’s Annual Texas and New Mexico Conference hosted by the National Association of Royalty Owners-Texas (NARO-TX) at the Grand Hyatt in San Antonio.
Clinton Butler, Chair of Langley & Banack, Inc.’s Oil, Gas & Energy practice group, was re-election as President of the Texas Chapter and will lead for another one-year term. He offered these takeaways from the 2023 conference.

NARO went back to basics. For those new members, the conference offered an entire educational track that was devoted to helping mineral owners gain a basic understanding of Texas mineral law, how minerals are conveyed and reserved, and how to best protect their minerals.
Building a bridge to the future. One of the key aspects of this year’s conference was learning how new forms of energy (wind and solar) are interacting and cooperating with oil and gas production. Several presentations were dedicated to this topic, and members learned how new forms of energy can power and enhance their oil and gas assets.
Creating strong bonds. At each NARO conference, the primary focus is fostering stronger connections among members, sponsors, and invited guests. This year’s conference was particularly special as we had the privilege of welcoming State Representative Eddie Morales as our keynote speaker. During his address, State Rep. Morales emphasized the importance of a robust and secure energy sector in Texas, one that promotes safety, efficiency, and high productivity. He highlighted how Texas is at the forefront of not only traditional oil and gas production but also embracing renewable forms of energy. NARO-TX is proud to have initiated this association with State Rep. Morales and looks forward to nurturing this relationship for many years to come.
