Overview:
Langley & Banack has a robust group of corporate, business, and banking attorneys and we are looking to add to our team. We are seeking an experienced, partner-level corporate lawyer with excellent communication skills and a client-service mindset.

Required experience and qualifications:

    • Expertise in commercial law
    • Comprehensive understanding of corporate and business law
    • Experience in mergers & acquisitions, corporate governance, capital raises, corporate reorganizations, and complex entity structures
    • Strong analytical and negotiation skills
    • 2+ years of legal experience

Bankruptcy Collections Attorney

Location: San Antonio, Texas
Job Type: Full-time

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Bankruptcy Collections Attorney to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will have experience representing creditors in bankruptcy proceedings and creditors’ rights litigation, with a strong working knowledge of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code and Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure. This role will involve managing a high-volume caseload, developing litigation strategies, negotiating settlements, and appearing in bankruptcy courts on behalf of clients.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Represent creditors in Chapter 7, 11, and 13 bankruptcy proceedings.
    • Draft and file pleadings, motions, proofs of claim, and objections.
    • Attend court hearings, creditor meetings (341 meetings), and mediations.
    • Manage a portfolio of accounts and develop legal strategies for debt recovery.
    • Negotiate settlements, stipulations, and payment agreements.
    • Perform legal research and stay updated on bankruptcy law developments.
    • Communicate with clients, trustees, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and ethical standards.
    • Maintain accurate records and timely reporting of case status and outcomes.

Qualifications:

    • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
    • Licensed to practice law and in good standing in Texas.
    • 2–5+ years of experience in bankruptcy and/or collections law.
    • Strong understanding of creditor’s rights and the Bankruptcy Code.
    • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and courtroom advocacy skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
    • Proficiency with case management software and legal research tools.

Experienced Litigation Paralegal (MedMal and Labor & Employment)

We are seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal specializing in Medical Malpractice and Labor & Employment law to join Langley & Banack. This position offers a unique opportunity to work closely with our litigation team on complex matters related to health care liability claims on behalf of physicians and hospitals along with claims of wrongful termination, discrimination, and FLSA wage/hour matters on behalf of employers throughout Texas.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of seven (7) years of experience supporting attorneys in complex litigation, preparing legal documents, managing case files, and assisting with trial preparation.

Responsibilities:

    • Assist attorneys in all stages of civil defense litigation, including investigation, discovery, trial, and appeal.
    • Conduct legal research on local rules, case law, statutes, regulations, and legal articles pertaining to medical malpractice and labor/employment law issues.
    • Prepare and file legal documents such as pleadings, motions, discovery requests/response, subpoena, and appellate briefs.
    • Organize and manage case files, exhibits, and evidence.
    • Assist in the organization and management of client discovery materials, including compliance with HIPAA and other security measures.
    • Coordinate and help prepare for witness interviews, fact witness depositions, and expert depositions.
    • Coordinate client communications, including initial receipt of case files as well as maintaining and coordinating litigation guidelines from clients.
    • Coordinate depositions, hearings, and trials, including scheduling, logistics, and witness communication.
    • Communicate with other parties involved in litigation matters. Communicate with witnesses, mediators, experts, and court personnel.
    • Assist in the drafting of correspondence, reports, and other legal documents.
    • Maintain and update case management systems and databases.
    • Review and summarize pleadings, deposition transcripts and other legal documents.

Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree and Certified Paralegal designation from TBLS or NALA preferred
    • Minimum of 7 years of experience as a litigation paralegal in a law firm setting.
    • Proficiency in legal research tools such as Westlaw.
    • Strong knowledge of litigation procedures, civil procedure rules and court rules.
    • Strong understanding of the e-filing system in Texas.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with clients and stakeholders.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
    • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Skills:

    • Experience with medical malpractice defense litigation and/or labor and employment litigation preferred.
    • Experience with eDiscovery platforms and document management systems.
    • Familiarity with trial preparation and support.
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines under pressure.
    • Professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills.
