We are pleased to announce that Valin Woodward and Carrie James have been named Shareholders of Langley & Banack. Both attorneys are New Braunfels natives and work with clients throughout the Hill Country and Central Texas.
Valin is a graduate of the University of Texas and St. Mary’s University School of Law. Her practice includes years of insurance defense and products liability, with experience in complex multi-district litigation and commercial litigation. Since returning to New Braunfels in 2005, she has focused on litigation and family law including divorce (from complex to uncontested), property divisions (including tracing of separate property) child custody (standard and non-standard, as well as geographic restrictions), child support (increases and reductions), enforcement, modification, paternity, grandparent access, termination and adoptions and pre- and post-marital agreements (keeping separate property separate). She also assists clients with the preparation of wills and advanced directives including durable powers of attorney, medical powers of attorney, and directives to physicians. Valin also has experience with probate of wills and other heirship proceedings as well as guardianship proceedings.
Carrie James is a family law specialist in our New Braunfels office. She is board certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Family Law. Prior to relocating to New Braunfels, her practice was focused primarily on litigating complex divorce cases involving contested property division and high conflict custody cases between parents and by non-parents in the Conroe/Houston area. She continues to focus on complex divorce litigation (characterization, valuation, common law marriage, and post-judgment enforcement), transactional property matters including negotiating and drafting premarital and partition and exchange agreements, as well as contested child custody, support, enforcement, modification, and termination matters. She also assists clients with preparation of wills, advanced directives, durable powers of attorney, and medical powers of attorney. Carrie is a graduate of Texas State University and South Texas College of Law.
