Richard Butler appointed as Karnes County Judge

The Firm is pleased to announce that the Karnes County Commissioners Court met in a special session on Friday, March 21st, and unanimously voted to appoint Shareholder Richard Butler to the office of Karnes County Judge. Mr. Butler will be sworn in and assume the office on Monday, March 24th.

Richard Butler is the son of the late Judge Ted Butler, who served as Karnes County Judge from 1959-1963, when he moved to San Antonio and went on to a career of public service highlighted by a decade as the Bexar County District Attorney and another ten years as Judge of the 226th Judicial District Court.

“I am greatly honored that the Karnes County Commissioners have given me this opportunity to serve the people of this county, which is undergoing dramatic changes as a result of the Eagle Ford Shale oil and gas development,” said Mr. Butler.  “I am confident that all of our county’s officers and employees will work together to meet the challenges Karnes County is now facing to make this an even better place to work and live.”

The general election in November will determine Mr. Butler’s successor who will take office as Karnes County Judge in January 2015.  The Firm is honored to have such a well-respected member of the South Texas community as part of our team.
