Langley & Banack has a very active mineral law practice under the direction of Charles R. Roberts, John W. Petry, August Linnartz, Jr. and Richard M. Butler. Our clients include operators, producers and landowners, as well as entities and individuals involved in exploration, production, refining, marketing, transportation, and oil-field service industries. Mr. Roberts has represented clients in the Oil and Gas industry for over 40 years, and also has extensive corporate, securities, trade regulation, financing and contract experience. He is frequently involved in transactional litigation of oil and gas related issues, including mergers an acquisitions. Messrs Petry and Linnartz also have extensive experience in representing clients in the oil and gas industry, especially as concerns matters of exploration, production, transportation, and oil-field services. The combined experience of Messrs Robert, Petry, Linnartz and Butler in this practice area includes:

• Trial and successful appeal of a multi-million-dollar take-or-pay judgment in 1996
• During the past twelve years, successfully litigated fee claims of royalty-interest owners against natural gas producers involving market value. During this same time period, successfully negotiated and litigated ad valorem tax claims against natural gas producers
• Involved in the spin-off of Valero from Coastal Corporation and numerous asset acquisitions and dispositions involving oil and gas properties
• Negotiation of the purchase and sale of significant mineral properties involving numerous selling and acquiring parties
• Advising of clients concerning issues before the Texas Railroad Commission and lease hold rights, mineral lease termination and surface-usage issues
• Representation of Chapter 11 trustee in a major oil and gas lease dispute
• Ongoing oil and gas transactional work for various operators, producers and landowners.
